The Helpful Ace hardware folks really aren’t very helpful.

I have a True Value around the corner from me, and they’re awesome. A bit pricier than Home Depot, but well worth it. Everyone working at Home Depot seems miserable.

Try Lowe's. They will literally turn their backs to you as you're talking to them.

I was in an Ace yesterday and they were very helpful, of course all I needed was to be pointed to the correct bin of bolts. I would say that particular Ace is usually pretty good for customer service but they are all franchises so it’s going to be hit or miss.

There was a non-brand, family-owned, local hardware store in far south Austin that was worth every mile it took to drive there. Sadly, it closed, so I’m back to HD/Lowe’s and the workers who know nothing and care less.

Ours has a small engine shop inside. I brought in a carburetor in hopes of finding a carburetor rebuild kit, but the Ace employee wouldn’t even look up the model number. I have yet to go to this Ace Hardware and be satisfied with the service.

There’s a Tru-Value not too far from me, but they are closed on Sundays.

I was at Lowe’s this morning. I guess we have unusual people around here bacause they have always been helpful. The guy over in the hardware section can be a little too helpful. I’ve learned to grab what I need quickly so I don’t end up talking to him for half an hour.
